Background
Great Intentions, Low Engagement
The BDD app was built to help visitors buy tickets, explore venues, and get the most out of their event experience. But in reality, engagement was low, and even though tickets were there, the process just wasn’t as smooth as it should’ve been.

We Found that It’s More Than Just an Event
From user interviews and feedback from past BDD events, we learned that people didn’t just want to attend, they wanted to feel more connected to the event

Users wanted to complete small tasks, visit booths, or unlock content — treating it like a personal achievement journey.

Designing for Engagement: Key Features that Transformed the BDD Experience
Stamp Collection for Venue Visits
To make the experience more fun and interactive, we added a stamp collection feature. Every time someone visited a BDD venue, they could collect a digital stamp, kind of like a little badge of adventure. Each stamp marked a unique moment and gave people a reason to explore more spots. It turned the whole event into a mini quest, and users loved having a clear goal to chase!

Improved Event Discovery
We gave the event discovery experience an adjustment! Now, to make it easy for users to explore every venue and event detail. We added a smart category system that lets people filter venues based on their design interests, so they can quickly find what they love without digging around. It’s discovery made simple and personal.

We made the homepage simpler and easier to use. Now, users can see ticket options right away. There’s a clear button to buy tickets, and the steps are quick and easy — just one tap to buy. It’s fast and simple for everyone.

Lesson learned
The BDD project taught me the power of blending utility with play, creating an experience that’s both functional and delightful for users.
This redesign not only boosted our engagement and conversion metrics but also helped redefine how attendees experienced BDD, through a digital journey that felt as lively and creative as the event itself.
